Miscanthus Harvest: Flexible Deployment from Friesland to Denmark

At De Vries Cornjum BV, flexibility is in our DNA. Even outside the traditional reed season, we do not hesitate to load our equipment and head to Denmark to harvest a field of miscanthus. Our reed mowing machine, normally used for reed, once again proves its versatility: we process this robust grass species smoothly and efficiently.

Our journey takes us through Germany to the port of Puttgarden, where we cross over to Rødbyhavn. A great international project where craftsmanship and perseverance take center stage.

Our reed mowing heads are standardly equipped with integrated cleaning brushes. This allows us to cut clean, ready-to-use bundles directly in the field — prepared for processing or immediate application as roofing material. That means less post-processing and more efficiency on-site.

Miscanthus is a new crop for us in practical use. We notice that it is significantly tougher and harder than reed, which makes the mowing process more challenging. At the same time, we are curious to see how miscanthus performs as a roofing material. Its properties make it an interesting alternative to traditional reed.

Miscanthus is a circular crop with many applications. It serves as an alternative to traditional roofing reed and is perfectly suited for bio-based insulation materials or renewable biomass. Besides mowing, we also offer chopping or baling services for such crops, fully tailored to the customer's needs.

Thanks to our unique machines, experienced team, and cross-border mentality, we always deliver the right solution.
